About Us

There is nothing more powerful than being inspired by an idea and having the confidence to create that one-of-a-kind piece on the lathe…this is what woodturning is all about!

I started wood turning a few years ago in Nova Scotia and found I had a real passion for it. My wife Cindy had always loved Bermuda Cedar, her Grampa was a carpenter in Bermuda and made beautiful cedar pieces. Her love for the smell of cedar and cedar gifts and my passion for wood turning came together in 2009 when I bought a small lathe, found some old cedar and started making a few pens. Creating shavings on a lathe consumed my thoughts for the next few weeks as I wrapped my brain around how a finished piece could emerge from rough materials so quickly! Now as I make more and more gifts my woodturning enthusiasm continues to grow. Like many turners, my woodturning adventures began with scraps of 2x4s and “factory sharpened” tools.

Bermuda Cedar is of course very scarce so I always use reclaimed wood, some times a small nail hole appears as I turn, I choose to leave these and create a unique one a kind piece rather than waste the cedar. Whether creating a fitted lid box or multi-axis turning, a translucent or winged bowl, a hollow form or exploring surface embellishments, I enjoy projects which stretch my skills and creativity.
